Shield Apps Until Your Day Is Done

App shields let you keep a few apps on your own phone closed until something you picked is done, such as today's action items, the Life Rings you chose, or a focus session. Your phone enforces your rule; Logit never learns which apps you ch

Safety boundary
This is a rule you write for yourself, on your own phone. Logit never suggests it, never sees which apps you chose, and never scores you on it. "Open anyway" always works and only leaves a private note.

Some apps are easy to open and hard to leave. App shields let you decide, in a calm moment, when a few of them should open again, and let your phone hold that decision for you. Finish today's action items, close the Life Rings you picked, or sit through one focus session, and the apps open on their own.

Read this first: this is a rule you write, not one Logit suggests. Nothing here is a streak, a counter, or a score. Opening an app anyway is a 15-minute pause that leaves one private note in your journal, and nothing else happens.

🎯 Use This When

  • You keep reaching for the same two or three apps before the day has started.
  • You want your evening plan to happen before the scroll does.
  • You would rather decide once, calmly, than resist twenty times a day.

🔒 What Stays Private

  • The apps you choose stay on your phone. You pick them in your phone's own picker, and Logit only ever sees how many you picked, never which.
  • The shield itself is enforced by your phone, not by Logit's servers. Logit tells your phone one thing: whether your condition is met.
  • The only thing that reaches your journal is a private note when you open a shielded app anyway. It is yours, it is private, and it is not a mark against you.

✅ One Thing To Do Now

Open Self → Settings → Screen time → App shields. Choose two or three apps, pick one condition, and turn the shield on. Start small; you can change the rule any time.

🔁 How A Shield Opens

In short: you write the rule, your phone holds it, and the apps open the moment your own condition is met or whenever you choose to pause.

🧭 The Conditions You Can Choose

Pick any of these. If you pick more than one, every one must be met before the apps open.

ConditionWhat it means
All of today's action items are doneThe tasks, habits, and goal steps Act lists for today are complete.
The Life Rings you choose are closedEach ring you tick (Connect, Act, Reflect, or Learn) has reached today's target. Self has no ring and is never asked.
A focus session is finished todayAny completed focus timer counts.
Shield hoursOutside the hours you set, the apps are open whatever else is true. Choose Work hours, Evenings, Overnight, or your own start and end. Hours alone shield for the whole window.

While the shield is on, the page shows exactly why: "2 action items left today", "Reflect ring not closed yet", "Focus session not finished yet". While Logit is still loading your plan it says so, and keeps the shield on until it knows.

⏸️ Opening An App Anyway

Tap Pause for 15 minutes on the App shields page (or Open anyway on the phone's own shield screen, where your phone shows one). On Android, the shield returns when the 15-minute pause ends. On iPhone, if Logit stays closed, the shield returns the next time Logit opens or resumes, or at the next daily start; the apps can remain open beyond 15 minutes until then. Logit writes one private note, "Opened a shielded app anyway for 15 minutes.", under Fun & recreation in your journal. That is the whole record. There is no count, no streak, and nothing to recover.

🔌 Setting It Up

  1. Open Self → Settings → Screen time → App shields.
  2. Allow what your phone asks for. On Android that is Usage access (so the phone notices a shielded app coming to the front) and **Display over other apps** (so it can show the shield screen). On iPhone, Screen Time access is asked once. Logit reads no app names from either.
  3. Choose apps in your phone's picker. The page shows only the count.
  4. Pick your condition and, if you like, your shield hours.
  5. Turn Shield the chosen apps on.

Turn off at any time keeps your rule and your chosen apps saved for next time. Nothing is enforced while it is off.

➡️ Where To Go Next

🌿 Why This Matters

Willpower is a poor way to run an evening. A decision made once, in a calm moment, and held by something other than you, leaves your attention free for the thing you actually meant to do. And a pause you can always take, without penalty, keeps the rule yours rather than something done to you.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Does Logit know which apps I shielded? No. You choose them in your phone's own picker, and Logit sees only the number, never the names.

What happens if I open a shielded app anyway? The pause is 15 minutes. Android reapplies the shield when it ends. On iPhone, if Logit stays closed, the shield returns the next time Logit opens or resumes, or at the next daily start. One private note goes in your journal. Nothing is counted, and nothing changes in your rule.

Will a shield nag me or suggest apps to block? No. Logit never suggests a shield, never adds apps, and never sends a reminder about it. The rule exists only because you wrote it.

Can I shield apps during certain hours only? Yes. Set shield hours and the apps are open outside them. Hours can run past midnight, like 22:00 to 07:00.

Why does it say "Checking today's plan…"? Logit is still loading today's action items. Until it knows, it keeps the shield on rather than guessing, and the pause is always available.

Does this work on the web? No. A browser cannot shield apps on a phone, so the page is not offered there.
